Using the Page Builder

Introduction

In this tutorial, we’re going to do a deeper dive into the page builder that’s used to create your pages and posts on your Oh My Hi site.

Step-by-Step Guide

Page Settings:

  • This sidebar on the right allows you to configure various aspects of your page:
    • Status: Publish immediately, schedule for later, or keep it as a draft.
    • Link: This is the URL for your page (e.g., https://ohmyhi.com/link_setting). You can edit it here.
    • Template: Choose how your page is displayed on the front end (e.g., default with header and footer, blank with no header or footer).
    • Discussion: Enable or disable comments for this page.
    • Revisions: Your site stores the last 10 revisions of your page. You can restore a previous version if needed.
    • Parent: Set up a hierarchy where you have a parent page and subpages under it (not very common).
    • Order: Sorting order for subpages.

Block Settings:

  • These settings depend on the block you have selected (e.g., button block). You can change things like width, add icons, and customize styles (color, background, etc.).
  • There’s also a toolbar that allows you to adjust block width, alignment (text and block). You can pin this toolbar to the top for easier access.

Document Overview:

  • This menu shows a list of all the blocks that make up your page. You can easily drag and drop them to rearrange their order.
  • It also allows you to copy and paste one or more blocks or groups. They can be pasted within the page or post you are working on or between different pages or posts.

Additional Tips:

  • You can use keyboard shortcuts like Control + Z for undo and Control + C for copy and Control + V for paste.
  • When adding new content, start with the Pattern Library rather than building sections from scratch.
