This tutorial explains how to unpublish a page or post on your website.
Step-by-Step Tutorial: Unpublishing a Page or Post
Step 1: Locate the Page or Post
- Navigate to Your Content:
- Go to the list of pages or posts in your dashboard.
- Identify the Published Page or Post:
- Look for the page or post that you want to unpublish, you can see it marked as “Published” on the far right.
Step 2: Use the Quick Edit Option
- Hover Over the Page or Post:
- Move your mouse over the title of the page or post you want to unpublish.
- Click on Quick Edit:
- A menu option called “Quick Edit” to access the quick options.
Step 3: Change the Status to Draft
- Locate the Status Field:
- In the Quick Edit menu, find the “Status” field. It will display “Published.”
- Change the Status:
- Click the dropdown menu beside “Status.”
- Select “Draft.”
- Save Your Changes:
- Click the “Update” button to save the new status.
Step 4: Verify the Page or Post is in Draft Mode
- Check the Status:
- Return to the list of pages or posts to confirm the status now says “Draft.”
- Edit or Leave in Draft Mode:
- You can now edit the content without it being visible on your site or leave it in draft mode for later.
Notes:
- Applies to Both Pages and Posts:
- The process is the same for posts and pages, though the “Status” field may appear in a slightly different location.
- Re-Publishing Content:
- If needed, repeat the steps above but select “Published” in the “Status” dropdown or click “Publish” once you have completed your edits on the page.
