Hey there!
In this update we’ve fixed the issue with our integration with Instagram that pulls in your latest Instagram posts and displays them on your website.
What You Need To Do
If you are using the Instagram feed integration, you’ll need to disconnect your site from Instagram and then go back through the connection process. You can follow the steps in this support article to disconnect your site and then follow the steps in this article to reconnect it.
An important note is that you need to have an Instagram professional account now in order to connect your site to Instagram. Unfortunately, this is out of our control and required based on the API changes that Instagram made.
The good news is that a professional account is free. The major difference between a professional and personal account is that a professional account is public so anyone can follow you. Professional accounts do not have the option to make your account private.
What Happened
For anyone that likes to nerd out on the technical details, here’s a quick recap of what happened.
In order to integrate with Instagram, we created a Meta App that had access to the Instagram Basic Display API. This API is what we used to communicate with Instagram and pull in the latest posts from your Instagram profile. The Instagram Basic Display API was deprecated on 12/4/2024 without our knowledge and without any heads up or notification from Meta. They posted this article about it on their blog, so we’ll be following that blog closer going forward. We didn’t find out about the issue until about a week ago when users started reporting that their feed wasn’t updating.
In order to fix the issue we had to change to using the Instagram API with Instagram Login. Because this API can only access business accounts, we also had to create a new Meta App and go back through the approval process. The approval process was much smoother this time and only took 2 days.
There were some minor changes required to Oh My Hi in order to interface with our new Meta App and those updates were pushed out to all sites with this update.
What’s Next
New Training
We are finalizing our training calendar for Q1 of 2025. In addition to our live support sessions, we are going to add sessions on specific topics like goals, analytics and metrics to track, lead magnets and forms, email, segmentation and a bunch more. If you aren’t using Oh My Hi yet, sign up now to join these sessions.
Form Styling Updates
Form styles are currently set based on the global styles you have set for your site. We’ve had a few requests to allow overriding the global styles on specific forms, so we’ll add the ability to do that soon.
More Patterns and Templates
Our releases frequently have a few new patterns or email templates that get added to the library. Keep sharing what you need and would like us to add.
